HOLY LAND IN ISRAEL, EGYPT & JORDAN – 13 days

PYRAMIDS – MEMPHIS – ST. CATHERINE MONASTERY – MT. SINAI – PETRA – MT. NEBO – DEAD SEA – QUMRAN – MASADA – JORDAN VALLEY – BET SHEAN – MT. GILBOA – EIN HAROD TIBERIAS – SEA OF GALILEE  - TABGHA – MT. BEATITUDES - CAESAREA PHILIPPI – CANA NAZARETH – SEPPHORIS – JORDAN RIVER – MEGIDDO – MT. CARMEL – CAESAREA - JERUSALEM  BETHLEHEM
 

DAY 1 – ARRIVE IN CAIRO, EGYPT
Tour the Pyramids of Giza and see the Sphinx.  After visit Memphis and return to Cairo for overnight.

 

DAY 2 – ST. SERGIUS – HANGING CHURCH – ST CATHERINE – MT SINAI
On the way to St. Catherine, visit the Hanging Church and Abu Sriga.  Arrive in St Catherine and check in for dinner and overnight stay.   For those wishing, 1am start to climb Mt Sinai in time to see the sun rise from the summit.

 

DAY 2 – ST. SERGIUS – HANGING CHURCH – ST CATHERINE – MT SINAI
On the way to St. Catherine, visit the Hanging Church and Abu Sriga.  Arrive in St Catherine and check in for dinner and overnight stay.   For those wishing, 1am start to climb Mt Sinai in time to see the sun rise from the summit.

 

DAY 4 – PETRA - MT NEBO - AMMAN
Today we’ll visit Petra.  See the Treasury, Theatre, the Palace Tomb, etc.  Drive to Mt Nebo where Moses saw the Promised Land for the first and last time.  Continue onto Amman.

 

DAY 5 – DEAD SEA – QUMRAN – MASADA – DEAD SEA
In the morning drive to the Dead Sea on the Jordan side to enjoy a swim.  Continue on to Qumran to see the remains of the Essene enclave and the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.  Take the cable car up to the fortress of Masada, where the zealots took their last stand against the Romans.  We will spend the night at the Dead Sea.

 

DAY 06 - DEAD SEA – BET SHEAN – BET ALPHA – MT GILBOA – EIN HAROD - TIBERIAS
After some free time to swim, drive up the Jordan Valley to Bet Shean, one of Decapolis of the Roman Empire.  See Bet Alpha, with its famous mosaic in the synagogue.  Then on to Mt. Gilboa and Ein Harod.  Tiberias for overnight

 

DAY 07 -  SEA OF GALILEE – GOLAN HEIGHTS
A morning boat trip will take us across the sea of Galilee to Capernaum.  See the ancient synagogue where Jesus preached and Peter's House.  Stop at Tabgha with its ancient Mosaic of the Loaves and Fishes.  See the Church of Mt Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount is remembered.  In the afternoon go to the Golan Heights and Caesarea Philippi where Peter confessed.

 

DAY 08 – CANA – NAZARETH – SEPPHORIS – RIVER JORDAN
Start the day with a visit to Cana, where the water was turned into wine.  Continue to Nazareth to see Mary's Well and the Church of the Annunciation. On to Sepphoris and see the mosaics there. Then to the Jordan River for renewal of baptismal vows.

 

DAY 09 – MEGIDDO – HAIFA – CAESAREA MARITIMA - JERUSALEM
First visit today is Megiddo, one of Solomon's Chariot cities.  Then drive through the Carmel range to Haifa and Mt Carmel.  See the view across the Mediteranean, the city of Haifa and the bay.  Then on to Caesarea and see the remains of Roman and Crusader times. Overnight in Jerusalem.

 

DAY 10 – GARDEN TOMB – MT OLIVES – GETHSEMANE – KIDRON VALLEY
Visit the Garden Tomb.  Drive to the Mt of Olives for a wonderful view of Jerusalem.  See the Ascension and the Pater Noster Church and view the Palm Sunday Road.  At the foot of the Hill see the Garden of Gethesemane with its ancient olive trees and the Church of All Nations.  Drive down the Kidron Valley and see the Pool of Siloam and St. Peter in Gallicantu. 

 

DAY 11 – JERUSALEM OLD CITY
Drive to the Western (Wailing) Wall.  From there continue on to Mt Zion to see the Tomb of David, Upper Room where the Last Supper took place and the Church of Dormition.  In the afternoon, walk down the Via Dolorosa past the Pools of Bethesda to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

 

DAY 12 – BETHLEHEM – JERUSALEM NEW CITY – EIN KAREM
Visit Bethlehem and see the Church of the Nativity built over the place of Jesus’ birth, also the Shepherds’ Fields. On to the New City of Jerusalem.  See the Model of Jerusalem as it was in the time of Jesus and the Dead Sea Scrolls and visit Ein Karem birthplace of John the Baptist.

 

DAY 13 – DEPART FROM TEL AVIV
Transfer to Tel Aviv airport for our flight home
