PAUL’S MISSIONARY JOURNEY IN GREECE
Driving tour!! Valid April 1st - October 31st 2012
Day 1 ARRIVE ATHENS
Arrive Athens International Airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight.
Day 2 ATHENS
Enjoy a half-day morning tour of Athens, combining many of the cities principal modern and classical sights. Climb up to the marble-capped Acropolis and visit the famous Parthenon and the Erechtheion. Continue with a panoramic tour of the most important site. Visit the new Acropolis Museum. Return to hotel. Overnight
Day 3 CORINTH- ATHENS
Departure to our morning's excursion to Ancient Corinth. It was to this megalopolis where the apostle Paul came and worked, established a thriving church, subsequently sending two of his epistles now part of the New Testament. Overnight at hotel in Athens.
Day 4 ATHENS - THESSALONICA
Drive from Athens to Thessalonica. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 PHILIPPI – KAVALA - THESSALONICA
Meet with your guide and start the drive to visit Philippi, where Paul worked. See the river, where Lydia is said to have been baptized, the ruins of a Prison where Paul and Sylas were kept, the Agora, the 5th and 6th century Basilicas and the Theater. After the visit, we continue to Kavala, the ancient port of Neapolis. Late that afternoon we arrive at Thessalonica for overnight.
Day 6 THESSALONICA – BEREA – VERGINA - KALAMBAKA
We start our brief tour of Thessalonica with a drive to the upper part of the Old City Walls. Visit the Vlatadon Monastery and a sightseeing drive of the city viewing the White Tower, the Triumphal Arch of Galerius. Drive to Berea one of apostle Paul's stops to see the Byzantine mosaic in the monument commemorating his preaching. Visit Vergina. Drive to Kalambaka.
Day 7 METEORA - ATHENS
Meet with your guide and depart to visit Meteora Monasteries famous for their Byzantine museums perched precariously on huge finger-like rocks, exhibiting superb icons, old manuscripts and unique mosaics and frescoes. Drive to Athens for overnight.
Day 8 DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for departure flight.
