With this tour you will enjoy the splendour of the classic Roman Empire. Leaving piazza San Bernardo, adorned by Moses’ Fountain, we will head to piazza della Repubblica and running along via Nazionale we will arrive in piazza Venezia. Crossing the square, we will leave the Memorial to King Vittorio Emanuele II and the Tomb of Unknown Soldier.
After this ample view of an important part of the city, the guided tour will take you to visit the square of the Capitol, the result of Michelangelo’s architectonic and magic genius. Simple but stately, the square is the seat of the Roman Town Hall, where you will enjoy the unique sight of the Forum and of the Palatine Hill with a view of the massive structure of the Colosseum.
We will then walk along the ancient pavement, which crosses the evocative ruins of the Roman Forum, the Curia, the Reggia. You will then admire the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Titus and the Arch of Costantine. The tour continues towards the Circus Maximus, the Aventine Hill and the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, ending up with the visit of St. Paul’s Basilica outside the Walls.

We will begin our tour from the piazza San Bernardo, adorned by Moses’ Fountain. Then the itinerary will continue, passing by via Bissolati, via Veneto and Villa Borghese. After this ample view of an important part of the city, we will visit the Vatican Museums and the Vatican Galleries. Be prepared to wait in line at the entrance.
You will then admire the modern entrance built for the Jubilee 2000, the Galleries of the Chandeliers, of the Tapestries and of the Geographical Maps, the Sobiesky Hall and the Immaculate Conception Hall. We will then stop to admire the Sistine Chapel, seat of the Conclave, frescoed by Michelangelo. We will end our tour with a visit to the Ancient Vatican Library.

Leaving from piazza San Bernardo, crossing piazza della Repubblica, we will run along via Nazionale and end up at the Basilica of St. Mary Major, built on the Esquiline Hill in 352 A.D. The tour will then continue to the Basilica of St. John in Lateran, cathedral of Rome and of the world.
After that we will go to the Holy Stairs, climbed by Jesus Christ to reach Pilate’s Palace.
From here the tour will start again by coach, crossing piazza San Giovanni and via Latina. Skirting along the Mura Latine, the tour will pass through the Porta San Sebastiano to arrive on the Ancient Appian Way, where we will find the Chapel of “Domine Quo Vadis”.
We arrive finally at the Catacombs of St. Callixtus, where the visit will take about 45 minutes (on Wednesdays the visit will be at the Catacombs of St. Domitilla). On the way back, you will have a view of the Caracalla Baths from the coach.

CAPRI WITHOUT BLUE GROTTO

After leaving Rome and driving along the Sun Route motorway, we will cross the regions of Lazio and Campania. From the road you will enjoy the view of the famous Abbey of Montecassino. Once in Naples, we will depart for Capri.
From the harbour of Marina Grande, we will take a minibus to Anacapri, a tiny and picturesque Mediterranean style village with a wonderful view on the whole gulf of Naples. We will enjoy lunch in Capri. There will be free time at our disposal to reach the celebrated Piazzetta and to wander through the characteristic streets. Return to Rome.

After leaving Rome and driving along the Sun Route motorway, we will cross the regions of Lazio and Campania. From the road you will enjoy the view of the famous Abbey of Montecassino.
Once in Naples, there will be a short panoramic tour of the city including the pier of Santa Lucia with its impressive Castel dell’Ovo, the historical centre, piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the San Carlo Opera House, the Gallery of Umberto I and the imposing Maschio Angioino.
We will then continue towards Pompei where, after a short visit to a coral and cameo factory and lunch in a restaurant, we will visit the excavations of this world famous Roman town, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius volcano in 79 A.D. Return to Rome.

ASSISI

After a short panoramic tour of its northern part, we will leave Rome by the Sun Route motorway. Our first stop will be in Orvieto, a small, gorgeous medieval town, famous for its cathedral. We will spend the day visiting Umbria, rich in vineyards, olive groves and nice villages on top of the hills. The itinerary is full of charming medieval cities: Spoleto (world famous for “Festival dei Due Mondi”), Trevi, Foligno, Spello and the most celebrated Assisi, the mystic city of St. Francis. The city, still surrounded by ancient walls, lies on top of the green slopes of Mount Subasio.
Everything in Assisi, from its rose-stone buildings, the winding narrow streets to its noble palaces with balconies full of flowers will leave you enchanted for life. A visit to the church of St. Mary of the Angels and the Basilica of St. Francis, with the masterpieces of Giotto and Cimabue will follow. Enjoy the chance to wander about, and look into the small artisan shops of the old city. Break for an authentic Italian lunch before your return to Rome.

Then we will drive along the Sorrentinne coast up to Sorrento where we will have dinner and an overnight stay. (It is kindly requested to dress in a suitable manner).
SECOND DAY – After breakfast, we will depart for Capri. From the harbour of Marina Grande, we will take a minibus to Anacapri, a tiny and picturesque Mediterranean style village with a wonderful view of the whole gulf of Naples. Then it’s on to lunch in a restaurant of Capri. After lunch, there will be free time at our disposal to wander towards the celebrated Piazzetta and the characteristic streets of this little town. In the afternoon depart for Sorrento and return to Rome.

FIRENZE

After a short panoramic tour of its northern part, we will leave Rome by the Sun Route motorway, crossing the regions Lazio and Umbria, to reach our destination: Florence. The city of Etruscan-Roman origins, it flourished in the Middle Ages as a free commune. Further refined by the Renaissance Art and enriched by the Medici rule, Florence is the cradle of Italian language.
We will start in the heart of the city to visit the Galleria dell’Accademia, where the original David by Michelagelo is kept, together with the Third Pietà and the Prisons, also by Michelangelo. We will then proceed to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with the magnificent dome projected by Brunelleschi, the Baptistry with the golden bronze doors by Ghiberti and Giotto’s Belfry.
From here, we will walk to piazza della Signoria with the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence’s Town Hall, the Loggia dei Lanzi with the Perseus by Cellini and the Fountain of Neptune. After lunch, we will go to piazza Santa Croce. There will be free time at our disposal to visit the church of Santa Croce (with the graves of Michelangelo, Galileo, Rossini, Machiavelli) or to go into some authentic shops such as the ancient School of Leather.

ORIGINAL RENAISSANCE FLORENCE WALKING

This walking tour of Florence features a walking tour of the historical centre of the city, and an in-depth tour of Michelangelo's David & other works by the genius of the Renaissance at the Accademia.
9.30am - 11.30am. Florence Walking Tour. As we walk through the streets and piazzas of Florence we'll discuss the ideas of the Renaissance, the lives of many famous artists, the Medici family who showered Florence with countless masterpieces, and how life changed forever during this epic period of Florence's history.
On this Florence walking tour, we'll admire the Ponte Vecchio and discuss the history of the oldest surviving bridge crossing the river Arno. As we enter the piazza della Signoria, after admiring Vasari's Corridor from the exterior, we'll enter Medieval Florence & Dante's old neighbourhood. Then, we'll encounter a series of breath-taking examples of Renaissance architecture as we arrive at Cathedral square to admire Brunelleschi's Dome, Giotto's Bell Tower, and at the Baptistery Ghiberti's "Gates of Paradise".
11.30am - 12.30pm. Tour of the Accademia. After enjoying a fascinating walking tour of Florence, we arrive at the Accademia Gallery, home to Florence ‘s most treasured work of art - "Michelangelo’s David". After enjoying an in-depth discussion of David, we'll also have time to admire "Michelangelo’s Slaves”.
