Christian tour to Greece and 7- day cruise to the Greek islands

DAY 1, Sunday / Arrival
Arrive at Athens International Airport, meet with our assistant and transfer to the hotel. Check-in. Your journey to the Biblical land of Greece begins! Travel in time, exploring a city with a history of more than 5,000 years! Temples, churches and museums blend with neoclassical buildings, quaint shops and cafes, in a vibrant cosmopolitan bustle that will stimulate your senses and inspire your mind! Dinner and overnight at hotel in Athens. (D)

DAY 2, Monday / Athens – Piraeus - Embarkation on 7-day “Idyllic Cruise”
Breakfast at hotel. Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Athens, including a visit to the Acropolis, as well as a panoramic tour of the highlights of the city. From the Acropolis Hill we will walk down to Mars’ Hill (Areopagus) (Acts 17:22) where Apostle Paul delivered his soul-stirring sermon. Rest of the day is free to wander through the Plaka and Monastiraki districts, where old combines with new as we discover shops and restaurants full of Greek delicacies. Return to hotel for collecting luggage and transfer at 6pm to Piraeus port for embarkation on the 7-day cruise. At 9pm sail to Mykonos, a cosmopolitan paradise, famous for its beaches and its vibrant nightlife. Dinner and overnight on board. (B,D)

DAY 3, Tuesday / Mykonos, Greece
At 7:00am we dock at Mykonos and we enjoy our day walking and exploring the pebbled streets of cosmopolitan Chora and have a coffee in “Little Venice”. You’ll spend the night here, so there’s ample time to discover the sandy beaches, the legendary nightlife and the pretty alleyways of Mykonos Town after dark and the gorgeous beaches, or ancient Delos, by day. DAY 4, Wednesday / Mykonos – Milos, Greece
At 7:00am sail to Milos. At 1:00pm we arrive at Milos. This island is a geological marvel and home to the biggest selection of diverse and beautiful beaches in Cyclades, some of them formed by ancient volcanoes. Greece. Here we will enjoy our excursion (approx. 5hrs) to the incredible scenery in Sarakiniko, an inlet of pure white stones formed by volcanic eruptions. Walk down to the inlet so we can experience this one-of-a-kind beach and take photographs.
It feels like as if you’ve landed on the moon. We will then drive on main road along the coast to the cobblestone streets and alleys of Plaka, a classic Cycladic village of white stone houses and bougainvillea flowers 250 meters above the Aegean. In just 100m from Plaka lie the early Christian catacombs, the largest in Greece, and the ruins of ancient Melos with a Roman theater, cut into the rocky slope of the hill near the ancient agora. Our path from the catacombs to the amphitheater takes us through a small olive grove beneath the retaining walls of ancient Milos, where we’ll find large Dorian walls and column fragments. On our way back to the port, we will visit the site where the “Venus de Milo” (now exhibited in the Louvre Museum in Paris), was discovered in 1820. Re-embarkation on the ship. DAY 5, Thursday / Santorini, Greece
At 8:00am. arrive in Santorini.
(Disembarkation by tender-boats, sea & weather permitting). We will overnight here with two full days and a chance to watch the blazing sunset from a ringside seat. We board the bus to visit Santos Winery, for a breathtaking view, deep inhalations of clean, pure, Cycladic air and memorial photos. The tour continues to Oia, while we will pass through Fira, the small traditional villages of Firostefani and Imerovigli with delicate architecture and beauties. We will enjoy the view over the caldera and the little islands of Thirasia, Palea and Nea Kameni. We will have plenty of time to stroll through the marble-paved alleys, to gaze at the adorably cute shops, to take pictures, to become acquainted with the characteristic buildings, carved into the rocks and the unusual captains’ manors, the settlement Ammoudi at the foot of the caldera. Return to the ship. All meals and overnight on board. (B,L,D)

DAY 6, Friday / Santorini, Greece
Free day in Santorini to join a second optional tour to visit the archaeological excavations of Akrotiri. Or enjoy a boat tour to the volcanic islands and hot springs. At 11:00pm we sail to Crete. All meals and overnight on board. (B,L,D)

DAY 7, Saturday / Crete, Heraklion
At 7:00 am we arrive in Heraklion, Crete. Capital of Crete and a former Venetian harbor with intriguing architecture. Optional tour to the Minoan Palace of Knossos, home to Europe’s oldest civilization and the setting of the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur. During this tour we will have the chance to visit the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion. Re-embarkation on the ship. At 8.30pm set sail to Samos island. All meals and overnight on board. (B,L,D)

DAY 8, Sunday / Samos, Greece or Kusadasi, Turkey
At 8:00am we dock at the island of Samos, once home to some of the greatest minds of ancient Greece, including Aesop and Pythagoras. Tour the island, swim at Tsamadou beach and don’t leave without tasting the delicious local Samian wine in the renowned local winery and museum. Sail to Kusadasi.

At 11:30am dock at Kusadasi in Turkey, our starting point for our visit to Ancient Ephesus, where the Apostle Paul preached and lived for three years (Acts 18:19-21). We will walk through the Hellenistic, Roman and Early Christian monuments: we see the Prytaneum, the Odeon, the marble-paved main Street of Kouretes, the Residences of the Patricians, Trajan’s Fountain, the Temple of Hadrian, the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the agora and the Great Theatre, built in the 4th century BC. Its capacity is 24,000 spectators and is famous even nowadays for its acoustics. The finds from the excavations, which have yet brought to light only 13% of ancient Ephesus, reside in the Archaeological Museum of Ephesus, in the city of Selcuk. During the excursion we will have the opportunity to do some shopping such as carpets, jewellery, leather and other souvenirs in Kusadasi.
At 5:00pm return to Samos and set sail for Piraeus, Athens at 8:30pm. All meals and overnight on board. (B,L,D)

DAY 9, Monday / Athens Disembarkation - Corinth
At 9:00am. arrive at the port of Piraeus. Disembarkation after breakfast.
We meet the local guide and head for our excursion to Ancient Corinth. We drive by the Saronic Gulf via the historic Corinthian Canal (quick stop for photos) and we arrive at Ancient Corinth (Acts 18:1-18). It was in this megalopolis where the Apostle Paul came, worked and established a thriving church. We see all the sites associated with his ministry: the agora, the Bema, Erasmus inscription and the small archaeological museum. On our return way to Athens, we will pass by Cenchreae, to see the remains of the 5th century basilica. After the tour check-in at hotel, followed by dinner and overnight in Athens. (B,D)

DAY 10, Tuesday / Departure
After breakfast transfer to the Athens International Airport for departure flight. (B)
