Day 1: ARRIVAL
Arrival in Athens. Welcome to Greece! The birthplace of Western civilization! Upon your arrival, you will meet with our representative and transfer to the hotel. Your adventure in the historic city of Athens has begun.
Day 2: ATHENS
Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Athens, including a visit to the Acropolis & its Museum, as well as a panoramic tour of the highlights of the city. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Rest of the day is free to explore the city.
Day 3: AFTERNOON CAPE SOUNION
Free time in the morning. Enjoy an afternoon drive to Sounion, passing by the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza and countless coves, from where one has a splendid view of the Saronic gulf. Arrive at Cape Sounion, dominated by the spectacular temple of Poseidon overlooking the Aegean Sea. Visit the archaeological site and return to Athens.
Day 4: ATHENS – CORINTH CANAL – MYCENAE – NAFPLION – EPIDAURUS
Drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf to Mycenae; visit the remains of the ancient city, including the lionesses’ gate, the tomb of Agamemnon and the Palace. Then through Argos on to Nafplion. After lunch, visit Epidaurus and its ancient theatre still in use, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Return to Athens via the Epidaurus /Corinth road.
Day 5: ATHENS – DELPHI - KALAMBAKA
Drive to Delphi through Levadia and Arachova. Visit the archaeological site (Visit to the Museum in Delphi is not included). Depart for Kalambaka. Drive through the towns of Central Greece (Amphissa, Lamia and Trikala) crossing the Thessalian plain, the granary of Greece. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Kalambaka.
Day 6: METEORA MONASTERIES
Visit the breathtaking Meteora and two of its monasteries built on the top of high rocks. Then start the drive back to Athens passing through Thermopylae, where Leonidas and the 300 Spartans fought their final battle against the Persians (photo stop) and Kammena Vourla. Evening freeto enjoy Plaka, a district in which Athenians have called home since antiquity. Find a traditional taverna and delight in the local cuisine.
Day 7: DEPARTURE
As you reflect on your visit to the Oracle, the ancient sites that brought history to life, you may realize that you have just touched the surface of all that Greece has to offer and you may find yourself already dreaming of your next Greek vacation. A smile of satisfaction will accompany your private car transfer to Athens International Airport for your departure flight back home.
