ITALIAN HIGHLIGHTS – 10 days

Rome – Assisi – Siena – Florence – Padua – Venice – Verona – Lake Como – Milan – San Marino - Perugia
 

DAY 01 – ARRIVE IN ROME, ITALY
After arriving in Rome we will have a half day  tour including a visit inside the Colosseum, the Roman Forum with the Mamertime Prison and the Circus Maximus

 

DAY 02 – ROME
We will spend the morning visiting the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica.  We will leave the afternoon to visit the Catacombs of St. Callisto.

 

DAY 03 – ASSISI – SIENA - FLORENCE
Visit the Basilica of St. Francis with its early Renaissance masterpieces.  On to Siena, the beautiful medieval city. We will finish in Florence where we will stay for the night.

 

DAY 04 – FLORENCE
All day shall be spent seeing the highlights of Florence including the Cathedral of Santa Maria delle Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Academy of Fine Arts Gallery housing “David” by Michelangelo.  There will also be free time for exploring.

 

DAY 05 – PADUA - VENICE
In Padua visit the Cathedral of St. Anthony, guarded by Donatello’s “Gattamelata”.  Upon arrival in Venice a walking tour will take us to the Piazza and Basilica of St. Mark, Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs. A visit to a Venetian glass factory is also included.

 

DAY 06 – VENICE
Day free in Venice.

 

DAY 07 – VERONA – LAKE COMO
After seeing Verona, the town of Romeo and Juliet we continue to Como for an overnight stay.

 

DAY 08 – MILAN – SAN MARINO
After a panoramic tour of Milan we proceed to San Marino, via Bologna.  Visit this fascinating medieval town then continue to San Marino, the world’s smallest and oldest independent Republic, founded in the year 301 as a Christian Sanctuary.

 

DAY 09 – PERUGIA – ROME
Visit the impressive Cathedral at Perugia and the Palazzo dei Priori.  Continue to Rome for overnight.

 

DAY 10 – DEPARTURE
Transfer from Hotel to Rome airport.
