FOLLOW THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE APOSTLE PAUL IN TURKEY – 13 days

Istanbul – Adana – Antioch – Seleucia – Tarsus – Cappadocia – Iconium – Pisidian Antioch – Perge – Aspendos – Antalya – Colossae – Hierapolis – Ephesus - Izmir – Pergamum – Alexandria Troas – Canakkale – Troy
 
DAY 1 – ARRIVE IN ISTANBUL
Transfer to your Hotel.
DAY 2 – ISTANBUL - ADANA
Today we shall see Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and Aghia Sophia.  Transfer to the airport for our flight to Adana.
DAY 3 – ADANA – ANTIOCH – SELEUCIA - ADANA
Our first visit today is Antioch the city where the disciples were first called Christians.  Then on to Seleucia, the port where Paul sailed to Cyprus from on his first
DAY 4 – TARSUS - CAPPADOCIA
Today we see Tarsus the birthplace of Paul. We shall visit his house before driving on to Cappadocia.
DAY 5 – CAPPADOCIA
We will spend all day touring this area starting with the chapels and churches carved out of the soft rock and frescoes.  Then Pasabag Valley with its troglodyte dwellings, and we will finish with the underground city of Ozkonak, built by the early Christians fleeing from Roman persecution.
DAY 6 – CAPPADOCIA - ICONIUM
Drive to Iconium where Paul and Barnabas were threatened to be stoned.  Visit St. Paul Church and the Mevlana Museum, home of the whirling dervishes.
DAY 7 – ICONIUM – PISIDIAN ANTIOCH - ATTALIA
On our drive to Attalia we shall stop at Pisidian Antioch, a place used as a base by Paul.
DAY 8 – ATTALIA – PERGE – ASPENDOS – ATTALIA
Start our day with a visit to Perge where Paul and Luke preached.  Then on to Aspendos, one of the best archaeological sites in Turkey.  Lastly, a short tour of the city at Attalia from where they returned to Antioch.
DAY 9 – ATTALIA – COLOSSAE – HIERAPOLIS – PAMUKKALE
On our way to Pamukkale we stop at Colossae to where Paul sent a letter.  Then to Hierapolis where Paul wrote to strengthen his work.  Also a visit to the white chalk cascades of Pamukkale.
DAY 10 – PAMUKKALE – EPHESUS – IZMIR
We shall spend all day at the ancient city of Ephesus. The Apostle Paul spent two years here.  We will stay overnight in Izmir.
DAY 11 – IZMIR – PERGAMUM – ALEXANDRIA TROAS – CANAKKALE
Visit Pergamum, one of the Seven Churches and among the many sites here see the Altar of Zeus, which is said to be “the place where Satan has his throne”.  Then on to Alexandria Troas where Paul visited at least twice and raised Eutychus from the dead.
DAY 12 – CANAKKALE – TROY – ISTANBUL
At Troy we shall see the remains of the ancient city and the replica of the wooden horse.  Then after a short ferryboat ride across the Dardanelles we arrive in Istanbul.
DAY 13 – DEPART FROM ISTANBUL
Transfer to the airport for our flight home.
