THEATRE STUDY TOUR IN GREECE- 7 days

DAY 1: ATHENS ARRIVAL
Arrive at Athens International Airport. We meet, welcome and assist you by our representative and transfer you to the hotel for overnight

DAY 2 : ATHENS CITY TOUR
Visit the marble-capped Acropolis and visit the famous Parthenon and the Erechteum.  We visit the Theatre of Dionysos, the birthplace of Greek tragedy, it was the first theatre built of stone where Aeschylus’, Sophocles’ tragedies and Aristophanes’ comedies were performed. We also see Roman Odeon of Herodes Atticus built in 161 AD with its 5,000 seats. Today it is used for a range of entertainment, including plays, concerts, opera and ballet during the summer Athens Festival. Our tour continues with a panoramic bus ride to the highlights of modern Athens: we pass by the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Parliament House, Presidential Palace, Panathenian Stadium, Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Academy, the University and the National Library. Return to the hotel

DAY 3 : ANCIENT CORINTH – MYCENAE - EPIDAURUS
First stop the Corinthian Canal, a four miles narrow cut of land, connecting the waters of the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulfs. At Ancient Corinth we see all of the Greek and Roman sites: the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Odeon, the Bema, and Gallio’s Seat, the Theatre, modified in the 3rd century AD so water could be piped in and mock sea battles staged.  Then we proceed to Mycenae to visit the remains of the prehistoric citadel fortified with the Cyclopean Walls, the Lionesses' Gate, the remains of the Mycenaean Palace and the Tomb of King Agamemnon in which we will actually enter.  On to Nafplion, the first capital of modern Greece, we stop to take pictures.
Then we continue on to visit Epidaurus: the Sanctuary of Asclepeios, ancient god of healing. We see the best-preserved ancient Theatre in all of Greece, famous for the harmony of its design and the perfection of its remarkable acoustics, easily accommodating 12,000 people. Return to the hotel in Athens

DAY 4 : DELPHI
Delphi, the center of the Ancient world, the "omphalos" (navel) of the earth - whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic world. On the slopes of Mt. Parnassos, in a landscape of unparalleled natural beauty and majesty, lies the archaeological site of Delphi. We visit the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians and the Theatre, built 2,500 years ago, seats 5,000 people. It rivals Epidaurus as one of the finest theatres in Greece. We visit the Archaeological Museum containing such masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Return to Athens

DAY 5 : HALF DAY VISIT OF ATHENS
Today we visit the Theatrical Museum; it traces Greek theatrical history from Classical times to present day. Then we will visit the Megaron Athens Concert Hall which has given the city of Athens a first-class classical concert venue and draws some of the best names in the music world.  There are so many fine theatres scattered around the city centre, often hidden in converted Neo-Classical mansion houses or arcades. Numerous popular revues that combine an entertainment mixture of contemporary political satire and comedy are regularly performed in theatres.  Return to Hotel

DAY 6 : EVENING THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE
Day at leisure.
In the evening we shall visit the TOPOS ALLOU THEATRE, here we shall have an entertaining and creative evening.  The students will have the unique opportunity to watch an ancient Greek performance in English "RUINS OF PASSION". (approx. 1 hour)
When it is finished they can meet with the actors in a friendly atmosphere and discuss with them about the performance, ancient tragedy and other various theatrical artistic subjects. Return to hotel

DAY 7 : CRUISE TO THE SARONIC GULF ISLANDS
In just one-day we will visit the Greek islands of Aegina, Poros, and Hydra, including lunch on board.  Aegina, an attractive and tranquil resort place. Here we can either join the optional excursion to the Temple of Aphaia; one of the finest and the best preserved of the Greek temples, or walk leisurely around the picturesque harbor.  On to Poros, delightful scenery marked by the low pine-wooded hills. Our last call is Hydra, fashionable artists' colony, a retreat of intellectuals and a favorite film location. An amphitheatrical town rings the colorful harbor with well-preserved sea-merchant family mansions. Leisurely we have time for strolling, shopping or swimming.  Return to Athens in the early evening for overnight
