NAFPLIO (4 hrs)
Enjoy a tour in the beautiful town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece. You can admire the unique architecture and charm of the Venetian and neoclassical buildings. See Palamidi Castle, which proudly stands 216 m (708 ft) above sea level and can be reached after climbing all of its 999 steps carved into the rock. Also see the symbol of Nafplio called “Bourtzi”, the Venetian small fortress standing on the rocky islet of Agioi Theodoroi.
ANCIENT EPIDAURUS (4 1/2 hrs)
Visit Philippi (Acts 16:12-40; 20:6) where the Apostle Paul worked. We see the river where Lydia is said to have been baptized, the ruins of a Prison where Paul and Sylas were kept, the Agora, the 5th and 6th century Basilicas, the Theatre and the remains of Via Egnatia. Return to Kavala, the ancient port of Neapolis.
